John Sutton - Williamsburg Walking Tours

COST OF TOURS

Come join me for any of our memorable daylight tours or lantern walk through our wonderfully interesting historic areas while I tell you stories of the people and events of our past. Since these are custom private tours, start times are flexible, and can begin when you wish. Williamsburg Tours , Jamestown Tours or Yorktown Tours can be customized to accommodate special wishes. We make it a point to discuss the history of interest to you.

The cost of admission tickets are not included in my guide fee.

****I have the highest regard for our Wounded Warriors including those  soldiers diagnosed with PTSD***

I consider it my duty and an honor to offer free guided tours* to these combat veterans including their spouce and childeren on a space available, first come, first serve basis. *Admission fees to Jamestown, Yorktown or Williamsburg parks( which are administered by others) is not included.

Our tour  guests are required to purchase admission tickets to Jamestown or Yorktown parks. Most guests on my tours purchase  admission tickets at the time of their tour to Jamestown or Yorktown. Some tour guests do purchase a Historic Triangle Pass in advance which gives admission to many locations. This Historic Triangle Pass may only be a good deal if you are going to visit most all the locations (which most guests do not).

No admission tickets will be needed while on my Williamsburg tour. I leave the visitation to Colonial Williamsburg historic buildings up to my guests to do on their own time. My tour time is best spent introducing guests to the history and what is available to see on their own. Therefore, tickets or admissions to Colonial Williamsburg historic buildings and trades are not included in the tour price. If access to Williamsburg historic buildings are desired after my tour, passes can be purchased at the time of the visit.

Where we meet

Persons taking a tour may rendezvous with their guide at a designated location. When we confirm the Williamsburg tour, we will send you a map and description of the meeting location in Williamsburg.

What guests see and do on a Williamsburg tour.

Both of my 2hr. or 3 hr Williamsburg tour take my guests into the oldest building in Williamsburg (no admission required for this building and is only available when building is open of course). Visitors will visit a classroom where three Presidents of the United States went to school. We then take my visitors through the historic area relating the history and interesting stories about persons and events that shaped our country’s history.

Visitors make the best use of their time by have the guide introduce the history, and events of Williamsburg’s past and give an overview of what is available to see and do . We suggest that visitors visit the buildings on their own after their tour with us if they have time. The visitation of building will require admission tickets. Ask your guide where to purchase the admission tickets if you are interested in seeing the historic buildings and trades of Colonial Williamsburg after the tour.

We want to get visitors excited about Williamsburg then turn them loose to see it on their own. We generally do not take visitors into the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation historic buildings because, in the interest of the visitor, it is not the best use of the guide’s knowledge and the visitors money. But we will accompany visitors into buildings if our guests wish us to do so and if they do purchase admission passes for themselves.

Admission passes for my tour are not required for our Williamsburg tour but are suggested if you have time to visit buildings on your own after my tour.

If you wish to visit the inside of historic buildings during or after my tour then Admission Passes are required.

If you wish me to take you into the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation historic buildings, you will need to purchase admission tickets . The can be purchased while here or in advance from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation
